CRESTVIEW MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE and DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

A Crestview man on felony probation for aggravated battery on a pregnant victim is now charged with beating a former girlfriend as well as a young child under the age of five.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged 35-year old Marcus Mitchell with domestic violence battery, child abuse, tampering with a victim, resisting an officer without violence, and violation of probation.
He is being held without bond at the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.
OCSO deputies say as a result of the unprovoked attack October 14th on Twin Oak Drive the child suffered a bruise underneath her left eye and a fractured hand.
The adult victim says when she tried to go to the child’s aid, Mitchell slammed her to the ground, punched her in the nose, and slapped her in the face. She suffered a broken nose, bruising to her face and arms, and a scrape to her knee. She added Mitchell took her phone so she could not call for help. The victim was able to run to a nearby home and ask residents there to call law enforcement.
When deputies arrived at the scene, Mitchell refused to comply with their commands and had to be tased to be taken into custody.
The victims were treated for their injuries at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Navarre Newspaper reminds our readers that Marcus Mitchell is presumed innoncent until found guilty in a court of law.
