DRIVING THE WRONG WAY ON 98

Jesse Ganey
A Baker man faces multiple charges after leading Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies on an early morning pursuit that saw him drive into oncoming traffic on Highway 98, and ended when he struck three cars at a pedestrian crossing light.
An OCSO deputy spotted 21-year old Jesse Ganey driving very slowly without headlights around 1:15 a.m.
When he attempted a traffic stop, Ganey refused to pull over and traveled down Highway 98, crossing the median twice to drive westbound in eastbound lanes.
Ganey began to slow down for cars stopped at a pedestrian crossing light, but then struck three of them when he tried to squeeze through and get away. No one was injured. Ganey then jumped out of the car and fled. He was captured by OCSO deputies after a brief foot pursuit.
Ganey faces charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving with property damage, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and resisting arrest without violence.
Deputies say Ganey later had to be transported to a local hospital, where medical staff determined he had ingested an unknown substance.
Navarre Newspaper reminds our readers that Jesse Ganey is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
