First, Second and Third Candles Extinguished on Fire Safety Tree

 

A residential structure fire Friday morning in the 40 block of Highpoint Drive in Gulf Breezerepresented the first candle extinguished on the “Keep Your Holidays Bright” fire safety tree. The second candle extinguished was represented by a residential structure fire Friday night in the 5300 block of Pecos Pass in Gulf Breeze. No injuries were reported, but two adults were displaced and the American Red Cross is assisting. Santa Rosa County Emergency Communications was notified of the fire at 9:06 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18. Crews arrived on scene at 9:16 p.m. Units from Midway, Gulf Breeze, Holley-Navarre and Florosa fire departments along with Lifeguard Ambulance and the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded.

 

The third candle extinguished was represented by a residential structure fire Saturday morningin the 5300 block of English Oak Drive in Pace. No injuries were reported. Santa Rosa County Emergency Communications was notified of the fire at 6:36 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. Crews arrived on scene at 6:44 p.m. Units from Pace, Avalon, Skyline and Escambia County Ferry Pass fire departments responded. The state fire marshal has been notified.

 

Santa Rosa County emergency service agencies are teaming up for the ninth year to promote fire safety during the month of December with the “Keep Your Holidays Bright” campaign. While a joyous time of year, cold weather, holiday decorations and festivities can create serious fire dangers. Firefighters hope to reduce the number of fires in Santa Rosa County by promoting simple, life-saving holiday safety tips throughout the month. In the first year nine candles were extinguished on the safety tree, three in the second year, six in the 2009 campaign, four in 2010, six in 2011,three in 2012, four in 2013 and five in 2014.
