Library Closures
Libraries will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Preschool Storytime
Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages 3-5 and include stories, finger plays, and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times. In order to minimize distractions, latecomers will not be admitted.

If this will be your first storytime visit, we invite you to come to the library before your first adventure to meet your storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore our children’s area, and enjoy a tour of the library!

Storytime will be presented during the following times through July 14:

  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. or 1 – 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

Summer Reading Programs through July 14
Build A Better World!
Come to any of the five Santa Rosa County libraries in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre and Pace for a fun program! Read for 15 minutes per day between June 5 and July 14 for great prizes. You may register online or at your library. Pick up a reading calendar at your library or print one online from the program registration page. Bring your completed reading calendar to your library’s last program or through July 30 to claim your prizes!

Programs for students who were in kindergarten through the 5th grades during the last school year will begin on June 6 and be held:

  • 1 p.m. on Mondays at the Navarre Library
  • 1 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Jay Library
  • 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Pace Library
  • 1 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
  • 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library

All activities are free and open to the public. Registration for programs is not required. Presenters in the weekly library programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library, the Friends of the Milton Library, the Friends of the Navarre Library, and the Friends of the Pace Library.
Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Board of Director’s Meeting
July 11, 5:30 p.m.
Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.at the Gulf Breeze Library. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.

Coffee Talk Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library
July 12, 6:30 p.m.
The non-fiction book club meets at the Gulf Breeze Library study room on the second Wednesday of every other month. This month the book club is discussing “American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes, and Trial of Patty Hearst” by Jeffrey Toobin. Please call the library or drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member for details. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at1060 Shoreline Dr.

Game Night – Jay Library
July 18, 3-6 p.m.
Enjoy playing games? Join us for game night at the Jay Library. You can bring your own games from home, or play those provided by us. This event is open to all ages, and game groups are welcome. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Ln.

AniManga Club – Gulf Breeze Library
July 18, 4 – 6 p.m.
Learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The club meets on the third Tuesday of each month. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. This month, we will have a special two-hour meeting; join us as we watch a movie about the adventures of Kubo. The AniManga Club is open to youth in grades 6 – 8. Registration is not required. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.  

Graphic Novel Book Club – Milton Library
July 18, 5 – 7 p.m.
Join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts at the Milton Library on the third Tuesday each month to discuss the book of the month. This club will be enjoyed by the new and seasoned graphic novel reader. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month’s selection is “Athena” by George O’Connor. We will also be watching a 1981 classic in which Perseus battles Medusa and the Kraken to save the Princess Andromeda. Please speak with a staff member to sign up. The Milton Library is located at 5541 Alabama St.

Family Movies – Pace Library
July 18 & 25, 4 p.m.
Join us at the Pace Library for family movie night. Movies will be shown every Tuesday from July 18 – Aug. 1, at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Pace Library. A variety of entertaining movies will be shown. We will also have a craft accompanying our July 18 movie! The movies are free and open to the public. The Pace Library is located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.

Dairy Farming                                                                                   
Kids in K-5th grades are invited to join us for an exciting and informative program about dairy farming! Learn about life on a dairy farm and listen to a story about Ferdinand the Bull! This program will be held on the following dates:

  • July 19, 1 p.m. at the Milton Library
  • July 25, 1 p.m. at the Jay Library
  • July 26, 3 p.m. at the Pace Library

Summer Movie Afternoons – Milton Library
July 19 & 26, 4 p.m.
Extend your summer library fun! Join us at the Milton Library on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. for family movie afternoons from July 19 through Aug. 9. A variety of entertaining movies will be shown. The movies are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Milton Library. The Milton Library is located at 5541 Alabama St. in Milton.

Documentary & Discussion – Gulf Breeze Library
July 19, 6 p.m.
Join us as at the Gulf Breeze Library for a documentary and discussion! This month’s documentary is Netflix’s “13th”. Popcorn and coffee will be provided by the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library; feel free to bring your own beverage. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.

Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library
July 21, 10 a.m.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life. They can provide information about agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems. This month’s topic is Citrus for the Homeowner, and will be presented by Mary Derrick, UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County Residential Horticulture Agent. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.  

Fiction Fanatics Book Club – Navarre Library
July 22, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Join us in the Navarre Library meeting room for stimulating conversations about popular works of fiction. Fiction Fanatics meets at 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month. We will take a break in November. This month’s selection is “The Charm Bracelet” by Viola Shipman. Sign up is required, so drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member today about reserving your copy! The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Bibliobabblers Teen Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library
July 25, 6 p.m.
Teens in 9-12th grade who are 14-18 years old can take a break from homework and school to hangout and discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. This month’s book is “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.  

Spiders – Milton Library
July 26, 1 p.m.
The Blackwater Heritage State Trail will present an informative and exciting program on spiders! Topics will include which species of spiders live in our area, as well as which types are poisonous. This program is for kids in K-5th grades. The Milton Library is located at 5541 Alabama St. in Milton.
