Arbor Day 2016 Tree Giveaway and Bonsai Class
The Milton Garden Club will host an Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at 5256 Alabama Street in Milton. The program is free, open to all and no registration is required.
Scheduled activities:
At 10:30 a.m. a one-hour program guiding the novice on how to plant bonsai trees will be presented by Bob McConnell, an advanced bonsai instructor.
At 11:30 a.m. Ian Stone from the Florida Forest Service will give a brief history of Arbor Day and give out free trees – 800 bare root eastern redbud, flowering dogwood, swamp tupelo and river birch trees will be given away.
Mary Derrick, Residential Horticulture Agent with UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County will briefly discuss how to plant a bare root tree.
