Tour of the Community Today

Today a group of students from Navarre High School took on a ‘Tour of the Community”. The goal of this tour is to introduce more NHS students to the people, places, and events in Navarre and Santa Rosa County that are making headlines in our community. 

Driving Overview of Charities in Navarre – Guides will show where a few of the important organizations are located and describe the work they are doing for the community. These groups are Weekend Food Program , ARC, Caring and Sharing, Emerald Coast Exceptional Families, Good Samaritan Clinic, Lindy Bush Food Pantry and Miracle League Park.

Navarre Park – representatives from The Starfish Project who are raising $100,000 for adaptive playground equipment in the park and Healing Paws for Warriors who train guide dogs for Veterans with PTSD will meet you and share their work with you. A veteran and his service dog will introduce themselves to you. Your guides will explain the importance of the Tourism Development Center (TDC) in the Park and explain how money that tourists spend impact the community

Navarre Beach Fire and Rescue with an overview of how the lifeguard, ambulance, and rescue programs work together on the Beach (including the data for rescues this year) Guides will provide short overviews of The Marine Science Station, TheTurtle Center, and The Navarre Beach Ambassadors Driving Overview of The Senior Center and The Navarre Public Library.

A quick tour of Holley Hill Pottery and their wood-burning kiln with an overview of how the community has supported The Arts over the years 

Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge tour the property . They will have a few animal ambassadors available for you to meet. 

County Offices for Overview and Presentation of Resolutions for Voting. Guides will share an example of a Resolution and give a short overview of how local government works. All committee work that is ready for a vote will be discussed in the County Commissioners Board Room (pass the Bylaws and charter The Environmental Club)

Driving Overview of North End Santa Rosa Kids House a child advocacy center for children reporting physical and sexual abuse and The Santa Rosa Animal Shelter in Milton.

The day will end up back at Navarre High School.
